Patent application published for landings on moving vessels
WO2025215039A1 covers takeoff and landing on a moving platform in conditions where vision-based guidance has nothing to work with.

The international patent application WO2025215039A1 was published on 16 October 2025. It covers a system for taking off from and landing on a moving platform — a ship deck — without relying on visual markers.
The method combines RTK positioning with inertial measurement of the platform’s pitch, yaw and roll. The drone holds its altitude above the pad until the measured motion falls inside a safe window, and only then descends. In fog, snow or darkness, where a vision-based system has nothing to lock onto, the landing still closes.
The application was filed on 8 April 2025 in the name of Birdview AS and Birdview Robotics Inc, with Pouyan Shariffiasl as inventor. Publication secures the priority date across the PCT member states while national examination runs its course.
